NBC’s “Today” show and The Knot.com have joined forces for a summer-long series inviting viewers and Web users to help plan one couple’s wedding day. Over 130,000 people voted on the “Today” show Web site for the couple they’d like to see married on “Today,” and Peter and Melanie were elected to be that special couple. Now, our audience has weighed in on the rings they’d like to see Peter and Melanie exchange on their wedding day. The Tiffany rings were selected. Read about the Tiffany rings and the other rings that were up for consideration below.

PETER AND MELANIE will return each week throughout the summer to have a different aspect of their wedding planned on the air and on the Web. And at the end of this special series, they’ll get married live on “Today.”

TIFFANY: “TIMELESS ELEGANCE”

Tiffany’s rings are classic, elegant and timeless. The diamond channel set bands are very popular now and represent classic wedding band style. Platinum has been making a resurgence for the past few years and is a sturdy metal.

These bands are simple, basic and affordable. While white metals have reigned for many years, gold is on its way back into the fashion forefront.

The tri-gold ring is classic Cartier and provides a great twist on the traditional plain gold band. The three colors of gold used in this tri-color wedding band bear a special meaning: pink for love, white for friendship and yellow for fidelity.

Scott Kay is the classic platinum jewelry designer of our time and one of the reasons behind platinum’s huge soar in popularity over the past few years. Platinum is durable, dense and practical because it resists tarnishing and it wears better than other materials.
